On the first and second day there was educational tour to the ALKO International School at Jamestown near Mudor and the Sempe 1 Government school, all in Accra. Awareness creation took place where over 1000 pupils, teachers and management of the school were introduced to scoliosis, what it is and signs that shows whether or not one may have the condition in later life. The team that led that campaign includes Gabriel, Evans, Michael, Philip and Benjamin.
Screening of pupils took place on the third day at Sempe 1 Government school where 100 pupils whose parent consented were screened by a team from FOCOS hospital Ghana led by a medical Doctor Abass, Scoliosis Foundation (Ghana) led by Gabriel and approved by Ghana Education service. During the screening some parents were educated on the condition and advised where to seek help if they realized any such signs on their wards. After the screening, no pupil was found to have the condition. However, we at SFG will carry the campaign on to eradicate the stigma and fear surrounding the condition nationwide.
